Prizes & Recognition
The Historica-Dominion Institute is challenging young Canadians (graduating high school students or undergraduates) to sharpen their pencils and take on some important questions facing Canada with the chance to win cash prizes and have their essays published on the contest website.
First Place:
- The participant with the first place entry will receive a $2,000 cash prize.
- The participant will win a trip to Ottawa (flight and one night’s accommodation) for the awards ceremonies in November 2010.
- Should the winning participant be under 18, a guardian will accompany them to Ottawa. Flight and accommodation of the guardian will be provided by The Historica-Dominion Institute.
- The winning essay and a photo of the author will be published on the Great Canadian Questions website as well as The Historica-Dominion Institute website.
First Runner-Up:
- The First Runner-Up will receive a $500 cash prize.
- The First Runner-Up will win a trip to Ottawa (flight and one
night’s accommodation) for the awards ceremonies in November 2009.
- Should the First Runner-Up be under 18, a guardian will accompany
them to Ottawa. Flight and accommodation of the guardian will be provided by The
Dominion Institute.
- The First Runner-Up will receive a selection of The Historica-Dominion
Institute books.
- The First Runner-Up’s essay will be published on the Great
Canadian Questions and The Historica-Dominion Institute website.
Second Runner-Up:
- The Second Runner Up will receive a $250 cash prize.
- The Second Runner-Up will receive a selection of The Historica-Dominion
Institute books.
- The Second Runner-Up’s essay will be published on the Great
Canadian Questions and The Historica-Dominion Institute website.
All Entries
- All participants who provide a valid email address will receive a Certificate of Participation signed by Andrew Cohen, President of The Historica-Dominion Institute, acknowledging their hard work and contribution to the Great Questions dialogue.
